Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

The short answer is, yes (I bet you knew I would say that). Of course, there are no guarantees that therapy will work for every individual, but many people do find therapeutic intervention to be rewarding and healing. We will work together to identify your own personal therapy goals and to establish a plan to meet them. While your success in the process largely depends on you, I will be there to guide you along the way..

The length of time that individuals will need therapeutic intervention varies from person to person based on their own specific needs. Some may terminate treatment when they begin to see lasting and sustainable changes to their mental health, while others may choose to stop counseling when their life circumstances have improved. Others may prefer to sustain a slow pace in therapy allowing for things to be processed as the need arises in session. Discussion for you will remain open while we are working together to make sure that you are processing and working at a pace that feels comfortable to you.

How It Works

Beginning counseling can be nerve wracking, especially if this is the first time you are reaching out for help. Knowing about the process can help alleviate some fears.

Consultation

I offer free consultations to individuals seeking care. During this 15 minute phone call I will be able to answer any of your questions as well as hear briefly about why you are seeking counseling. If we both feel like we would work well together, we will schedule a first appointment.

Treatment Planning

Your first few appointments will be used for us to get comfortable working with one another and for me to assess where you are at and any important considerations for your care. We will work together to create a plan for your treatment, including what is most important for you! This process is collaborative and can always be revised to meet your needs as you advance in counseling.

Continued Care

It is important that you are dedicated to the work you are doing in therapy. As your counselor, I only get to spend about an hour with you every week. But, that hour can transform your life. Stay dedicated to the transformative work of therapy. You have a choice. Things can get better.
I am here to help.
